During the course, you will be guided by local master artisans, guardians of a knowledge passed down through generations, who will reveal the secrets of papier-mâché, a simple material rich in expressive potential. You will decorate your own handmade Venetian papier-mâché mask, transforming it into a true masterpiece.
Let your creativity run wild as you choose colours, designs and embellishments (such as feathers, glitter or trimmings...) inspired by the famous Venetian Carnival masks, symbols of mystery, beauty and freedom. But that’s not all: our passionate and knowledgeable staff will also share with you the history and fascinating stories behind Venetian craftsmanship and Carnival, uncovering anecdotes and legends that have made this celebration famous worldwide.
As you listen to these stories, you will delve deeper into the essence of Venice, making your experience not only creative but culturally enriching.
Explore the history and significance of Venetian masks and how they have influenced culture and art throughout the centuries, as passionately told by our staff.
The artisan will also reveal the special techniques used to create the masks, as well as the meaning behind the different designs and decorations. The course is led by an Italian artisan with over 40 years experience.

DURATION - 1 hour workshop MEETING POINT- Mater Domini mask shop in Campo S.Maria Mater Domini, 30135 Santa 2118 VE DIRECTIONS TO THE MEETING POINT: Arriving by Foot: From the Rialto Bridge go straight until you reach Campo Beccarie and cross the small bridge. Take calle dei Boteri and turn left. Continue along Calle del Cristi until you reach Campo San Cassiano, cross the bridge in front of you, pass the restaurant Al Nono Risorto and turn left. Continue in the direction of Santa Maria Mater Domini. Arriving by Boat (Vaporetto): Take the line num. 1 Actv and get off at the "San Stae" stop and walk straight along the "Salizada San Stae" street. At the end of the street turn left into "Campiello del Spezier". Go past the restaurant "Muro San Stae" and cross the bridge. Go straight to the end of the street and turn right into "Corte Piossi" and pass in front of the church of Santa Maria Mater Domini. The location is on your right.
